2025 Design Projects, Wrapped | A Year of Elevated Interiors by Basil & Tate

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the spaces that defined 2025 for our studio. This past year was filled with thoughtful renovations, bold transformations, and homes designed to feel just as good to live in as they look.

From Denver-area renovations to a dramatic desert escapes in Scottsdale, each project challenged us creatively and reinforced what we believe most deeply: good design is intentional, layered, and rooted in how people actually live.

So today, we’re rounding up our featured projects from the year — and another look at the homes, the process, and the common design thread that ties them all together. Welcome to 2025 Design Projects, Wrapped.

The Amos Project

Timeless Design with Warm, Refined Details

The Amos Project was a beautiful example of how elevated design doesn’t have to feel overly formal. From the very beginning, the goal was to create a home that felt timeless, welcoming, and thoughtfully composed — a space that could evolve with the homeowners for years to come.

This project leaned into a neutral color palette layered with warmth and texture. Natural wood tones, soft finishes, and carefully selected materials created a sense of quiet sophistication without sacrificing comfort. Every design decision was made with longevity in mind — from the cabinetry selections to the lighting and furnishings.

One of our favorite aspects of the Amos Project was the way each space flowed seamlessly into the next. Rather than designing rooms in isolation, we focused on cohesion across the entire home. The result is a space that feels intentional and grounded, yet effortless.

This project perfectly embodies our approach to transitional design through blending classic elements with modern sensibility to create something that feels both current and enduring. See the full project here.

The Carl Project

Modern Living Through a Soft, Neutral Lens

The Carl Project allowed us to explore modern design in a way that still felt approachable and livable. While the architecture and layout leaned contemporary, we softened the overall feel through materiality, color and texture.

This home was designed for everyday life — for gathering, relaxing, and moving easily through each space. We focused heavily on functionality, ensuring that storage, circulation, and furniture layouts worked as beautifully as the finishes themselves.

Layered neutrals played a starring role here. Instead of relying on bold color, we introduced contrast through varying tones, organic materials, and subtle pattern. The result is a home that feels calm and cohesive, yet visually interesting from every angle.

The Carl Project is a reminder that modern design doesn’t have to feel cold or minimal to be impactful. With the right balance, it can feel warm, welcoming, and deeply personal. See the full project here.

The Carnett Project

From Vacation Rental Vision to Forever Retreat

The Carnett Project holds a special place in our hearts — not only because of the scale of the renovation, but because of how the story unfolded.

Originally intended to be a high-end Airbnb, this home underwent a full transformation with that goal in mind. Every bathroom was completely renovated, layouts were refined, and the rest of the home received a thoughtful refresh designed for flexibility and durability.

But on reveal day, everything changed.

Our clients walked into the finished space and immediately knew: there was no way they were renting it out. What began as a vacation rental vision became a forever second home — and we couldn’t blame them.

The design balances serene, retreat-like spaces with moments of playfulness and function. Bedrooms were reimagined to feel calm and peaceful, while shared spaces were designed for entertaining, gathering and connection. Storage solutions, custom details, and layered finishes ensured the home felt elevated without feeling precious.

This project highlights the power of thoughtful planning and design. When a home truly reflects how you want to live, it has a way of changing your plans — and that’s our favorite kind of outcome. See the full project here.

The 108 Scottsdale Project

Dramatic & Modern Desert Living

The 108 Scottsdale Project pushed us creatively in all the best ways. Set against the desert landscape, this home called for a design that felt bold, modern and sculptural — all while still remaining livable and inviting.

From the moment you step inside, the balance of contrast and restraint is intentional. Dark accents are softened by texture and light. Clean lines are layered with warmth. Sculptural forms meet quiet, thoughtful details.

The kitchen and dining spaces were designed to feel both striking and functional, with a strong connection to natural light and the surrounding environment. In the living areas, we softened the home’s modern edge through warm wood tones, layered neutrals, and carefully selected furnishings that invite you to sit, stay and gather.

Outdoor spaces were just as important as the interiors. Multiple patios extend the living experience beyond the walls of the home, creating seamless indoor–outdoor flow that feels perfectly suited for desert living.

The 108 Project is a beautiful example of elevated design rooted in place — bold yet timeless, dramatic yet deeply livable. See the full project here.

The Basil & Tate Design Thread

What Ties These Homes Together

While each of these projects is distinct, they all share a common design philosophy — one that guides everything we do at Basil & Tate.

Across every home, you’ll find:

  • Elevated yet livable interiors

  • Neutral foundations layered with texture and contrast

  • Thoughtful space planning and intentional flow

  • Strong collaboration with contractors and trusted trades

We believe great design is as much about process as it is about aesthetics. Our role is to do the heavy lifting for our clients — thinking through details, coordinating with builders, and ensuring the final result aligns with the original vision.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to create homes that feel beautiful, functional, and deeply personal — spaces that truly bring goodness home.
