7 Design Details That Elevate This Custom Lake House

In this month’s edition of our Elevated Design Series, we are thrilled to feature Amy Storm & Company’s Pine Lake Love project.

This beautiful new construction project, located in Pine Lake, Wisconsin, is a perfect mix of coastal, traditional and modern design aesthetics. From room to room, this custom lake home’s spaces just get better and better. So let’s take a look around and explore the elevated design details of each space.

Let’s take a look at the 7 design details that elevate this beautiful Custom lake house—

  1. Double island kitchen

Both a chef’s and hostess’s dreams come true! We love the addition of a second island in this amazing custom kitchen space— with room for five or more to gather ‘round. Now there is room to cook and entertain all together, and no one has to miss out on anything in the heart of this home.

2. Custom plaster sink & Freestanding bathtub

We are loving all the blue and coastal elements of this home’s several bathrooms, but there are a couple details that really stand out.

First: the custom plaster sink in the powder bathroom. Nothing says luxury like a custom sink for a powder bath! This detail kicks things up a notch in a small, but expertly designed space, and adds a touch of industrial style to an otherwise coastal-themed room. (And as a side note, we are equally obsessed with this wallpaper!)

Second: this navy freestanding bathtub in the primary bathroom suite is one of the most spa-like tubs we have ever seen. We just love how the design team continued the blue theme here, accented with modern brass fixtures and a statement chandelier above.

3. Chevron pattern ceiling

Thankfully this home’s ceiling details did not go overlooked! We especially love the chevron pattern detailing above the dining area — something we don’t see in most homes. The combination of traditional and thin wood beams also adds to the custom look in each room, while creating a warm and inviting feel throughout the entire home.

4. Bunk bed room

The ultimate luxury vacation home has to have a bunk room, right?! While we understand this comes at an additional cost for clients, a custom bunk bed room is such a cool feature to share (and dare we say must-have) when gathering with extended family or friends for summer break on the lake. This kid-friendly space is the perfect mix of form and function — and if you’ve been following along, you know we love to see it! Cousin camp at the lake? We’re already signed up. ;)

5. Shiplap details inside and outside

Indoors and out, we are fans of the small doses of shiplap included in this project. A classic element of any coastal design, we appreciate how the design team incorporated shiplap into some more unexpected places like this bedroom’s shiplap half wall and the dark blue shiplap in both the powder room and bar lounge area. The kitchen dining nook, living room and patio all showcase more traditional shiplap executions, but we love seeing this design detail in all forms, colors and spaces!

6. Statement lighting

Let’s take a few moments to praise the statement lighting fixtures selected throughout this expansive home. While there are so many unique styles to point out, a few of our favorite fixtures include the natural woven drum lighting in this bedroom, the brass and fabric pendant above the dining nook, these sleek black fixtures above the entry hallway, and last but certainly not least — this modern white mobile fixture above the living room’s gathering space. Statement lighting that catches the eye is simply a must-have for any custom home, and we love how these unique pieces topped off each space.

7. Luxury lounge space

And finally, we have to highlight this custom home’s luxury lounge space. Now this is where summer vacation memories will be made! From the ceiling’s wood beams and lighting, to the beautiful bar area and cozy fire-side seating space, this lounge is designed to live in and enjoy. While there is so much design goodness going on in this room alone, one of our favorite subtle details is the rope-supported open shelving at the bar — adding just the right nautical touch to this luxury lake house lounge. Love!
