Our Collaborative Design-Build Process
STEP 1: VISION & PLANNING
Reither Construction leads the construction planning and scope, while Basil & Tate guides the design direction for the space — shaping the materials, finishes, lighting, and overall experience.
STEP 2: DESIGN WITH INTENTION
Basil & Tate develops a comprehensive design plan for your basement, guiding selections for flooring, tile, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and other key material details that shape the space.
To help you visualize the finished result before construction begins, we create up to two custom 3D renderings of your space — allowing you to see how materials, lighting, and design elements will come together.
STEP 3: BUILD WITH ALIGNMENT
Reither Construction brings the design to life with expert craftsmanship. Because the design is clearly defined upfront, everyone is aligned on scope, expectations and outcomes.

The Phases of Design with Basil & Tate

At this stage, we gather the information needed to begin shaping your design.
The Conceptual Design Phase exists to confirm your scope, layout, investment estimate, and aesthetic direction.To set your project up for success, we conduct a virtual 30–60 minute Style Discovery call where we:
Learn about how you want the space to function
Review inspiration and visual references
Align on investment expectations
Following this conversation, we present a conceptual design direction to confirm alignment on aesthetic and overall approach.
One round of revisions, if needed, is included.

Once the conceptual design phase is approved, we begin refining the details needed to bring your design to life.
The Detailed Design Phase exists to turn ideas into orders.We will present finishes that align with your budget, quality expectations, and aesthetic, informed by our industry knowledge and design expertise. Materials are reviewed together in an in-person presentation with physical samples whenever possible, allowing you to see and feel the selections before final decisions are made.
One round of revisions, if needed, is included.

Once selections are finalized, we document and communicate all design details to the construction team so materials and finishes are implemented smoothly and accurately.
