The Lieu Project Reveal - Living Room
Drum roll, please…
I present to you one of my favorite spaces yet… the living room at The Lieu Project! I am STILL over the moon that my client asked me to be a part of this project in their new home. I LOVE her style! She wanted to be involved in the design process, so the two of us had a blast putting this room together. So much of my work is done solo because my clients are hiring me to do the design for them because they don’t have the ‘eye’ and/or the time to do it themselves. This client definitely has the ‘eye’ but being a crazy busy mom with 3 littles and a busy hubby, she wanted some help making her vision come to life.
Like I mentioned, my clients had just moved into their house when they reached out to me. As with most moves, the furniture and decor from the old house don’t necessarily fit the space or aesthetic of the new house. That was exactly what had happened here, and my clients were ready for a fresh look. They have plans of doing some renovations down the road, but they didn’t want to wait for that time to come before making this new house feel like home.
We started the design process with furniture layout possibilities and decided two sofas would be needed to justify that large space. Many aren’t brave enough to invest in white sofas (with 3 children!), but this client was! (Dream client, I’m tellin’ ya!) She had the furniture professionally Scotchgarded (can that be a verb?!) and has not had any issues keeping them looking like new! I love the brightness that light-colored furniture adds to a space. Paired with the fun mix of textures and shades of blue on the pillows, these sofas are simply stunning.
I *love* every piece we picked for this room, but the sideboard is pretty hard to beat. That cane detail on the front is everything. I love the contrast with the white and the texture that it adds. So pretty. My client loves getting family pics taken (rub off on me, please!) and their photos are nothing short of amazing - like straight out of magazines. We wanted to show them off in a big way, so we started with a couple oversized black and white portraits layered on the sideboard. We already had a beautiful, modern piece of art above the fireplace (kicking myself that I didn’t get any better shots of it!) so the photos worked really well to compliment the other art. Wait until you see what else we did to show off more of their gorgeous family pics!
We filled in the space with more layers, textures, and pops of color with the navy coffee table, the rattan chair, and the jute rug. Then… accessories! The cherry on top! They had an existing media center with lots of nooks for electronics and decor. These types of spaces get a little tricky to decorate, but I’m really happy with how this area turned out. The repetition of the white vases became the focal point and helped to fill a really large area without making it look like a hodge-podge of ‘stuff’.
This space is what my dreams are made of. My clients were willing to invest in some quality pieces that elevated this space to a whole new level, and I couldn’t love it more. This was such a fun project from start to finish, and I can only hope it’s just the beginning for this house. :)
As promised, this is a peek at the gallery wall that we created going up their open staircase. I could not get a camera angle that did this wall justice. These are giant 30” square acrylic frames and they rock my world. This wall can all be seen from their living room, kitchen, and upstairs - and add such a personal touch to their home. L.O.V.E.
